Experimental Study on Utilization of Silica Fume in Concrete

Abstract

The Experimental Study On Utilization Of Silica Fume In Concrete carried out by silica fume as a supplementary cement material and evaluates cement for concrete grade M20. We add 0 percent, 5 percent, 10 percent, and 15 percent by weight of cement in concrete and glass fiber as well.

The use of silica fume had a major impact on industries, the ability to produce silica fume modified concrete of flow capable in nature on a routine and commercial basis but remains cohesive, which in turn produces high early and later age strength including resistant to aggressive environments. This study is an experimental on the nature of silica fume and its influence on the properties of fresh concrete. The partially replacement of cement by silica fume the strength parameters of concrete have been studied.

Conclusion

The addition of silica fume to the concrete tends to reduce the workability of normal concrete. The silica fume concrete density is similar to normal concrete. But the use of steel fibers increased density. The compressive strength of concrete is enhanced by the use of silica fume. There is no particular trend of variation in normal and silica fume concrete elasticity modulus.
