Development Of Remote Monitoring System For Civil Engineering
Abstract
The Development Of Remote Monitoring System For Civil Engineering of fiber optics, barely out of its infancy as a valuable commercial enterprise, has been seeing stunning technological advances over the last few decades. Concurrently, the fiber optics industry accounts for one-sixth of the U.S. economy and is playing an increasingly important role in the telecommunication field. Together with the development of fiber optical communications, anotherresearch field, optical fiber sensing, has also been developed during the last few decades to give optimum sensitivity in measuring local activation.
Conclusion
Recently it is not sufficient to provide optical measurement systems or sensors only. There is a big demend to configure them into a doistributed system which is able to perform on-line measurements, remote monitoring and data archiving functions. In the paper we presented the architecture and realization of such system together with numerous optical, full- field sensors. The applicability of this system had been checked at the building site of a big national church in Warsaw (the novel building technology was checked). However the system needs to be extended by adding an alarm detection module which has to be specific to each measurement/monitoring task and should include a direct connection with FEM analysis data base. Such modules will be build in future for well defined engineering tasks.
