Secure Data Group Sharing and Dissemination with Attribute and Time Conditions in Public Cloud

Abstract

Cloud storage is a cloud application that liberates organizations from establishing in-house data storage systems. Cloud storage gives rise to security concerns, however. In the case of group-shared data, both cloud-specific and conventional insider threats face the data. Secure data sharing among a group that counters legitimate but malicious users ‘ insider threats is an important research issue.
The Secure Data Group Sharing and Dissemination with Attribute and Time Conditions in Public Cloud methodology applies to conventional and mobile cloud computing environments. We implement a working prototype of the SeDaSC methodology and evaluate its performance based on the time consumed in different operations. We formally verify SeDaSC’s work by using Petri’s high-level networks, the Satisfied Modulo Theories Library, and a Z3 solver. The results show that SeDaSC has the potential to be effectively used to secure cloud data sharing.

Introduction

Secure Data Group Sharing and Dissemination with Attribute and Time Conditions in Public Cloud computing is rapidly emerging due to the provision of elastic, flexible and on-demand storage and computing services for customers. Low-budget organizations can now use high computing and storage services without heavily investing in infrastructure and maintenance.

The loss of control over data and computation, however, raises many security concerns for organizations, thwarting the public cloud’s wide adaptability. The loss of control overdata and the storage platform also motivates cloud customers to maintain access control over data (individual data and data shared by a group of users through the publiccloud).

Conclusion

We proposed the Secure Data Group Sharing and Dissemination with Attribute and Time Conditions in Public Cloud methodology, a security scheme for group data cloud storage. The proposed methodology provides data confidentiality, secure data sharing with-out reencryption, access control for malicious insiders, and forward and backward access control.

In addition, the Secure Data Group Sharing and Dissemination with Attribute and Time Conditions in Public Cloud methodology provides assured deletion by deleting the parameters required to decrypt a file. CS, which is a trusted third party in the SeDaSC methodology, performs the encryption or decryption functionalities.
