Integrated Authentication and Key Agreement Framework for Vehicular Cloud Computing

Abstract

The VCC leverages underutilized vehicle storage and computing resources to collaboratively provide end-user traffic management, road safety and infotainment services, such as drivers and passengers. Integrated Authentication and Key Agreement Framework for Vehicular Cloud Computing is a hybrid technology that improves vehicle resource utilization and is able to perform complex computing tasks that can not be handled by a single vehicle. Despite the appealing advantages of sharing resources among unfamiliar vehicles, security and privacy threats are severe in VCC.

Integrated Authentication and Key Agreement Framework for Vehicular Cloud Computing We identify security goals for interoperability with VCC in this article and provide VCC with an AKA framework. Specifically, we first present the research challenges and open problems in designing a reliable AKA with strong security guarantees for VCC. Then we propose an integrated AKA framework that integrates AKA’s single-server3-factor protocol and non-interactive identity-based key establishment protocol and evaluates its performance based on a simulated experimental platform. Finally, several interesting issues are discussed in order to shed light on the further directions for research on AKA for VCC.
