Identity-Based Encryption with Cloud Revocation Authority and its Applications

Abstract

Identity-Based Encryption with Cloud Revocation Authority and Its Applications is a public key cryptosystem and eliminates the demands of public key infrastructure (PKI) and certificate administration in conventional public key settings. Identity-Based Encryption with Cloud Revocation Authority and Its Applications Recently, Li et al. proposed a revocable IBE scheme with a key-update cloud service provider (KU-CSP) by embedding an outsourcing computing technique into IBE. Their scheme, however, has two shortcomings. One is that the costs of computation and communication are higher than previous revocable IBE schemes. The other shortcoming is lack of scalability in the sense that the KU-CSP must maintain a secret value for each user.

Conclusion

We proposed a new revocable IBE scheme with a cloud revocation authority (CRA) in which the CRA performs the revocation procedure to alleviate the PKG’s load. This technique of outsourcing computation with other authorities has been used with KUCSP in Li et al’s revocable IBE scheme. In our revocable IBE scheme with CRA, the CRA only holds a master time key to perform the time key update procedures for all users without affecting security. Compared to the scheme of Li et al, the performance of computation and communication is significantly improved.
