Effects Due to Untreated Disposal of Municipal Sewage

Abstract

Effects Due To Untreated Disposal Of Municipal Sewage

Water’s chemical characteristics can affect esthetic qualities such as how water looks, smells, and tastes. Whether or not the water is safe for use, this can also affect its toxicity. Water sampling from the study stations was done three times over a six-month period (June-November 2013) using standard analytical methods.

The Effects Due To Untreated Disposal Of Municipal Sewage results obtained show a decrease in dissolved oxygen, an increase in total dissolved solids and a corresponding increase in electrical conductivity, an increase in hardness, chloride and sulphate concentrations.

The highest concentrations of BOD, TSS, TDS and turbidity were 85.15 mg l-1; 50.85 mg l-1; 614 mg l-1 and 48.9 NTU respectively were obtained at an effluent discharge point into the water body. The study observed that the water samples from stations 1, 2 and 5 showed clear tendencies of pollution that can be considered as water quality deterioration.

Conclusion

Effects Due to Untreated Disposal Of Municipal Sewage Civil Project Report Municipal sewage was rich in nutrients ; its use in growing tree-planting is an alternative treatment aimed at achieving the stringent wastewater disposal standards in the receiving water bodies.
