Water Resource Assessment and Management Plan Generation Using Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System-A Case Study of Doddamudavadi Micro Watershed
Abstract
Water Resource Assessment And Management Plan Generation Using Remote Sensing And Geographical Information System-A Case Study Of Doddamudavadi Micro Watershed Water is one of the most essential material in day to day life water is becoming scarce due to various reasons including reduction in infiltration rates, higher runoff rate, uneconomical use, over exploitation of the surface resources etc., as a result change in land use patterns ,degradation of forest cover and public apathy towards its importance.
Soil erosion is one of the most serious environmental problems in the world today, as it threatens agricultural and natural environment. It is very distressing that at a time when agricultural efforts are focused on increasing food production, soil degradation is increasing worldwide.
Conclusion
The remote sensing is powerful tool for generating large amount of data referred to nature and its resources in a relatively short time and can be a prominent source of information for geographical information system (GIS). The objectives of the study reported is characterization of watershed and preparation of land use I land cover maps aiming to suggest the suitable land use plan for a micro watershed.
