Point of Sale System

Extenda delivers Point-Of-Sale java project report (POS) solutions to companies such as ICA, Axfood, H&M and Stadium. A POS application is used to register sales and handle bank transactions. The application must perform in real-time to meet the demands of both cashiers (in need of a responsive system) and customers (demanding fast and accurate service). Touch screens are becoming more common in POS solutions and Extenda is therefore developing a touch screen interface for their POS application. An early prototype, made before this project began, was based on the already existing keyboard-based interface and not completely redesigned for the touch screen. The touch screen interface will eventually be a part of Extenda’s standard POS and will be designed for retail and grocery stores. This project was formed to help Extenda create a touch screen interface based on research and theories in human-computer interaction. With knowledge of touch screen interaction, unnecessary design mistakes can be avoided. This will help making the product more competitive on the market.
