Cost Effective Technology on Masonry Arch Lintel Using Concrete Bricks of Ceramic Wastes
Abstract
Cost Effective Technology On Masonry Arch Lintel Using Concrete Bricks Of Ceramic Wastes The compressed earth block is the modern descendent of the moulded earth block, more commonly known as the adobe block. The idea of compacting earth to improve the quality and performance of moulded earth blocks is, however, far from new, and it was with wooden tamps that the first compressed earth blocks were produced.
This process is still used in some parts of the world. The first machines for compressing earth probably date from the 18th century. In France, Francois Cointeraux, inventor and fervent advocate of “new pise” (rammed earth) designed the “crecise”, a device derived from a wine-press.
Conclusion
The experimental results carried out during the present work would lead to the following conclusions.
- The samples with Sludge content of 30-40% was found to be vitrified.
- A ratio of 2:3:3:2 containing fly ash, cement, and sludge and demolition waste, respectively was found to be the better suitable ratio in manufacturing brick made of sludge and demolition waste along with fly ash and also has a potential to be used as instead of normal bricks.
