Introduction
A study on investment pattern and preference of retail investors mba finance project report The main objectives of the study were to identify the preference of investors towards various investment avenues, public awareness & preference of mutual funds, and find out the purpose and objectives of the investment.
India is experiencing a phase of savings and investment, especially with its working class growth spurt. The goal of the study is to define the investment trend of retail investors with particular emphasis on the industry of mutual funds. It is interesting to see that while investment in physical assets is still the most attractive, investment in equity and mutual funds is on the rise. The study findings indicate that the age of investors plays a vital role in the risk appetite difference. In addition, while both males and females are equally put on their factors for mutual fund choice, males position the brand image as least important, while females place investment volatility in the same class.Furthermore, a comparison of the age of investors with the factors affecting investment decision reveals that those under the age of 40 attach the greatest importance to a high return on investment, while those over the age of 60 prefer investments with a lower risk category, even if that means a lower return.
The paper aims to find the behaviour of individual investors of Coimbatore city vis-a-vis available investment avenues in the Indian financial markets. The major factors behind an investment are the safety of principal amount, liquidity, income stability, and appreciation.
