A Distributed Auction-based Framework for Scalable IaaS Provisioning in Geo-Data Centers
Abstract
This paper proposes a Cloud Infrastructure-as – a-Service (IaaS) framework that allows customers to efficiently host their high-performance computing applications and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to profitably use their resources. A Distributed Auction-based Framework for Scalable IaaS Provisioning in Geo-Data Centers The solution introduces a distributed architecture that logically grouped in regions manages geographically distributed data centers (Geo-Data Centers). This A Distributed Auction-based Framework for Scalable IaaS Provisioning in Geo-Data Centers framework overcomes the challenges of traditional centralized provisioning approaches: efficient provisioning of IaaS demand, scale with respect to the growing number of IaaS requests, guaranteeing the stringent quality of service requirements of IaaS requests, and efficient use of Cloud Geo-Data Center computing resources. Our architecture incorporates two hierarchical and distributed decentralized approaches that use auctions instead of a pay-as-you-go pricing scheme.

Conculsion
This chapter addressed the problem in Geo-Datacenters of IaaS provisioning scalability and the increased computational complexity. In that context, we first presented an efficient distributed framework for IaaS provisioning in Geo-datacenters where applications from different domains can be hosted. The presented framework mainly relies on a distributed architecture that groups geo-datacenters into regions based on their proximity. There are two decentralized approaches to resource allocation working through the presented architecture
